Hello all.
Today we looked at three moral dilemmas that I gave to you, defined what they are, and then you broke them all down offering possible answers to the scenarios posed to you.
I thought this part of the lesson was particularly effective personally, for lots of reasons.
We also looked at and discussed the various communication skills that you were demonstrating / developing today. Impressive stuff for sure.
So, a few questions.
1. How did you enjoy the moral dilemmas part of the class?
2. Listening to other groups were you persuaded to think differently?
3. Did you feel comfortable speaking with your peers / in front of the class if asked?
I look forward to your thoughts. As always, just be honest in your appraisal and anything goes!
Well done, some great communication skills were on view today.
Mark
Hi Mark, I thought class today was excellent. At first glance it looked like a easy one to answer but definitely wasn’t. So much grey area in all three dilemmas lol. It was good to hear other people’s take on them though and how they differed from my own. -Chris.
ReplyDeleteHi Chris, thank you for taking time out to write some reflective comments. Yes, they all look quite straightforward on first glance, until you start delving into all the variables, or possible variables and consequences! Yes, it really was a fantastic session, and lots of active learning going on. Have a great evening. Mark
DeleteHi Mark, I thought the moral dilemmas was a good way to get everyone involved and get us thinking about different situations that aren't always black and white. While I thought everyone had good points to make, it didn't persuade me to think differently on my views , felt totally comfortable speaking in front of my peers. Looking forward to the next class!
ReplyDeleteGood evening, Kelsey, and great to hear from you. You have hit the nail on the proverbial head there, as there are many different layers to these dilemmas. It also gives you all an insight into the things we lecturers have to wrestle with. As I stated, there are always checks for everything, so standards are always maintained, but marking and assessment is rarely straightforward, even when you've been around 102 years like me, ha ha. I am glad you felt comfortable articulating your thoughts today. Confidence building for all members of the class is vital. Great stuff, and I'm looking forward to the next one too. Next stop, effective and ineffective presentation delivery, see you there! Have a lovely evening, Mark
DeleteI really enjoyed the moral dilemma class yesterday. It was good listening to everyone’s opinions and points of view. I think my mind was pretty much made up from the start on each dilemma but I enjoyed talking it through with the rest of the group. I didn’t have any problem speaking out in class.
ReplyDeleteMorning, Pauline, thank you for popping some words into this thread, much appreciated. The real boon for that exercise is precisely that, to listen to the views of others, and ascertain how they break things down. I always find that session fascinating. There are multiple layers in all three of them. Great stuff. See you again on the 18th and have a great week. Mark
